Wood stoves remain a reliable and a common choice for off-grid heating, Has a simple design that produces a gentle and centered heat with moderate costs. While there is a consistent need for a supply of dry firewood and regular maintenance, the initial investment in a wood stove is often more affordable compared to some other options like the rocket mass heater. In case your land can provide firewood you can save most of the costs, but you will need to get your hands dirty and invest plenty of time and effort.

Propane heating systems are quite a convenient option for off-grid living, producing centered heat but compared to a pellet / wood stove, some of the propane stoves can move around because they do not need a chimney. While propane is stored easily for extended periods, there is a need for a steady supply, and the cost of propane may vary due to many reasons.
